Less than a week after Consumer Report praised the new iPad as being the best tablet on the market and charging more demand than its previous two generations, an internal AppleCare document has surfaced reflecting wi-fi issues, including connection drops, inability to join local networks, and slow upload and download speeds. Printed restaurant menus and physician clipboards all exist on the borrowed time thanks in large measure to Apple’s world changing tablet, and musicians have taken the device with gusto, too. Now, after pilots took the initiative by bringing their personal iPads onboard, airlines are replacing big, heavy flight manuals with the pound-and-a-half computer. You would think that in the wake of all of the failures that have come before Hewlett-Packard would know better. There is a well heavily traveled, potholed road that has been ignominiously cratered by companies that smack talked that their unreleased, untested product would kill the iPod, iPhone and, now, iPad. Truly, the wheels of justice turn slowly, but an employee of Flextronics, an international contract manufacturing and services company, was caught on tape dishing Apple’s secrets to an investment firm. It’s called innovation and, when it comes to video, Flash is rapidly fading to black (and none too soon). Here’s a new Mobile Safari add-on for iOS devices will convert video encoded with Adobe’s performance and battery sucking middleware into clear, clean HTML5. There’s been a lot of gnashing of digital teeth about the lack, for some, of printing on the iPad and iPhone.
